The Housing Quality Inspections Department is responsible for inspecting all Public Housing and Section 8 properties annually. These inspections are conducted in order to provide Safe, Decent, and Sanitary Housing for low-income families. The Housing Authority currently has 1,836 Public Housing units and approximately 1,048 vouchers for Section 8. We currently have 943 families housed through Section 8. The Housing Quality Inspection Department currently is performing approximately 4,000 inspections yearly, to include new clients, specials and follow-ups & quality control inspections.
The Housing Quality Inspections team has been challenged with the task of utilizing the Uniformed Physical Condition Standards (U.P.C.S.) as the guidelines fro Public Housing Inspections, and the Housing Quality Standards (H.Q.S.) guidelines for Section 8 Inspections. The Housing Quality Inspectors are cross-trained in both the U.P.C.S. and H.Q.S. regulations allowing the department to become more diversified and efficient. The Housing Quality Inspections Department goal is not only to provide Safe, Decent, and Sanitary living conditions, but also to continuously build a strong relationship within the Community.
