The Housing Choice Voucher Program Divison of the Corpus Christi Housing Authority administers the Homeownership Program to very low and extremely low-income families to purchase decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing. The program provides homeownership opportunites to first time homebuyers through a Homeownership Housing Choice Voucher Program.
The Homeownership Voucher is funded through the Housing Choice Voucher Program funding allocations from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other applicable federal, state, and local grants.
Eligibility Requirements for Families:
1. The family has been admitted to the Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership Program. (Current Housing Choice Voucher Holder)
2. The family must be a first-time homebuyer or no member of the family has owned a home or interest in a home for five years.
3. The family must satisfy the minimum income requirement of not less that the federal minimum hourly wage multiplied by 2000 hours ($14,500 yr). The minimum income requirement for an elderly or diabled family is monthly SSI benefit ($674 x 12 = $8088 yr).
4. Currently employed fulltime (30 hours per week) and continously employed for at least two years. There is an exception to this employment requirement for the elderly and/or disabled.
